چکیده

This paper describes a new standpoint to further understanding the evolvability of A-life systems, that is, quantification of the dependency of system constituents. If a system exhibits evolutionary activity, new events, including the development or extinction of systems constituents, may emerge one after the other. The occurrence of new events would involve a changing complexion in the course of the future direction of system behaviors. In this respect, there have been a considerable number of studies on capturing longterm dynamics in A-life systems in terms of, for example, population dynamics. On the other hand, we focus on the quantification of relational concepts between constituents to clarify the occurrence of fundamental events affecting longterm course of evolution. We apply a quantification method to our A-life simulation model. Sequential analysis of the obtained results enables us to visualize its long-term evolutionary dynamics. We discuss the effectiveness of our approach and the quantified evolutionary dynamics.

A MODEL FOR EVOLUTIONARY DYNAMICS OF WORDS IN A LANGUAGE

Human language, over its evolutionary history, has emerged as one of the fundamental defining characteristic of the modern man. However, this milestone evolutionary process through natural selection has not left any ’linguistic fossils’ that may enable us to trace back the actual course of development of language and its establishment in human societies. Lacking analytical tools to fathom the cr...

Measurement of long-term denudation rates in carbonate landscapes using in situ-produced 36Cl cosmogenic nuclide

ecent progresses have been made in the quantification of denudation of eroding landscapes and its links with topography. Despite these advances, data is still sparse in carbonate terrain, which covers a significant part of the Earth’s surface. We can now measure in situ-produced cosmogenic nuclides concentrations in various near-surface materials, allowing accurate quantification of the rates o...

The Effects of Long-term and Simultaneous Administration of Methylphenidate and Nicotine before and During Pregnancy on the Microscopic Structure of Testicular Tissue in Male Offspring of Mice

Background and Aim: Methylphenidate (MPH) is one of the commonly used drugs in the treatment of hyperactivity disorder in children. The use of MPH has been associated with increased activity of the central nervous system so may lead to the abuse of this compound. Nicotine is one of the compounds available in a wide range of people in various forms. The negative effects of nicotine on pituitary-...

The Lobbying, Bribery, and Compliance: An Evolutionary Model of Social Factors

Abstract Connecting to rule-makers in order to set favorable rules (lobbying) or paying government executives to bend the current rule (bribing) are the two main strategies for influencing government. This study in an evolutionary game model explain why bribing may become widespread while other states like compliance and cooperative lobbying are Pareto superior. The theoretical model is used ...

The Study of Histomorphometry and Histochemistry of Liver in Adult Male and Female Rats Following Short-term and Long-term Administration of Methylphenidate

Background & Objective: Methylphenidate is one of the most common medications used for treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The administration of methylphenidate, through blocking of dopamine receptors and increment of extracellular dopamine levels, leads to escalation in central nervous system activity. Numerous studies investigated the effect of methylphenidate on bod...
